Parish Choir  (September - June)
For those interested in providing vocal support for weekend/holiday liturgies as needed. One rehearsal weekly (approximately 1.5 hr.).  High school through adult level.

Instrumentalists (ongoing)
If you'd like to play your instrument (flute, drums, guitar, violin, piano, organ, etc.) for this community please join us.  Your talents add beauty and a special personal touch to our liturgies. Rehearsals are conducted as needed.

Cantors (ongoing)
An opportunity to sing the psalms and intone parts of the liturgy as a soloist.  Proper rehearsal will be given to make sure you can comfortably do your best.

Children's Choir (September through June)
For the children who would like to sing, sign and express themselves by their song.  If you play and instrument you are encouraged to bring it along. Young music makers will have fun expressing their music.  Grades 3 through 8.

Resurrection Choir (ongoing)
For anyone available to sing at funerals.  This ministry supports those who are grieving in our community. No weekly rehearsals.  Just join us to sing!  You are notified of each funeral and you determine if your schedule permits you to attend.  This is a wonderful opportunity for giving of your time and talents.

A Special Invitation to All
Music brings life, beauty and personal satisfaction to and individual, as well as to the community.  As stewards of this parish, we come to lead in musical expression.  These opportunities allow us to become involved with others in our parish life.  Uniting to provide musical expression develops a bond to each other and our community.  Please -- Join Us for some fun along the way.  It has been my experience that "groups who play together... STAY together.  Please call for more information.
I look forward to meeting all of you this fall as we join together to sing, pray, and celebrate our journey together.  "Come and share your story" as David Haas invites us all.
Blessing Be Yours,
Kathy

kathy buetelAbout the Music Ministry Director Kathy Beutel
It is with a happy spirit and great anticipation that I have accepted the position of Director of St. Matthias Music Ministry.  I have been employeed by St. Edwards (Detroit), St. Mark's (Warren), St. Ephrem's (Sterling Heights), St. Blase (Sterling Heights - 13yrs.), and St. Peters (Mt. Clemens - 16 yrs.).
October 2009 I was able to take an early retirement because of so many active years in the ministry (45).  I continued working at funerals, weddings, and substituting throughout the Diocese.  I knew putting my full time work "on hold" would be very difficult.  So many friends and so much great music that was such a joy to develop.  What a blessing.
After a lot of prays and soul searching, I realized my passion for musicneeded to find a home once again. There was a huge void in my spirit and especially in my heart.  Music Ministry takes on a life of its own if you allow it to do so.
I look forward t this musical journey with a renewed spirit and a happy heart once again.  I now realize God STILL has plans for me.
I am grateful for the privilege to begin.
Kathy Beutel
