Father Francisco was ordained December 1, 1988 after completion of his studies at the Yarumal Seminary in Medellin, Columbia. He came to the USA in 1993 and has held several important roles in the Church prior to becoming the Pastor of St. Matthias in 2007. - Parish Priest in Columbia - Parish Priest in the Yarumal Missions of Ecuador - Parish Priest at St. Gabriel in Detroit, MI - Parish Priest at St. Michaels in Sterling Height, MI He was inspired to become a priest to serve God's people and has a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Divine Child. Father is also a strong advocate for the poor. Father Francisco is a native of Columbia and brings deep rooted faith and background in the Catholic Church. Inspired by his parents, the presence of the Lord was passed on to his three older sisters and the young Francisco. His Father was a businessman and his mother was a homemaker. When not busy tending to the flock, he enjoys home improvement projects at the rectory, ham radio, snow removal (with the tractor), riding motorcycles, and his Border Collie Amiga (i.e., friend). Father Franciso's vision for the future of the Parish is for steadfast growth in faith and devotion to the Lord, and that working together with all people of the Parish we make St. Matthias the Catholic Church of choice in the Sterling Heights area. |
